NAVI MUMBAI: After relaxation of lockdown, tourists started visiting Matheran hill station from Wednesday. Big hotels are getting ready to resume business, expecting large tourist arrivals by Diwali.
Matheran resident Sunil Shinde said, “The arrivals started five months after lockdown. Five of a family from Sangli turned up and had a joy-ride on horses. The arrivals increased hopes of resumption of tourism.” Radha Cottage hotelier Manoj Khedkar said, “We started bookings. Municipal council data shows 35 tourists turned up on Wednesday and 50 on Thursday.”
