Police installed 34 special check posts in the district
PANCHKULA: Police arrested 12 people in 10 different cases and checked 1,406 vehicles in a drive held from Friday night till the early hours of Saturday.
The order of ‘night domination’ was given by commissioner of police (CP) Saurabh Singh. Police teams, including cops form police station, traffic and crime branch, worked together to carry out the drive.
Police installed 34 special check posts in the district. Among the 12 people arrested, five were booked for gambling and Rs 12,540 was recovered from them, three were booked under Punjab Excise Act and 317 bottles of country-made liquor and 18 beer bottles were recovered from them, two were booked for cruelty to animals and two for committing affray at public place.
Cops checked 1,406 vehicles, including 330 two-wheelers, 602 four-wheelers, 264 LCVs (light commercial vehicles) and 210 HCVs (heavy commercial vehicles). Out of them, 29 were issued challans, two were impounded and eight challaned for drunken driving.
As many as 40 people were challaned for not wearing masks. A total of 8,264 challans for not wearing masks have been issued so far.
DCP Mohit Handa took a round and took stock of all the check posts at night. “These drives are important to time to check criminal activities at night. All police officials of various ranks worked together to make it a success.”
