LUCKNOW: A 42-year-old undertrial facing murder charges and lodged in Lucknow jail was found hanging inside the isolation barrack on Thursday. The police are investigating the case and the body has been sent for postmortem examination.
The accused, Aman Gopi of Baldi Kheda in Para, was sent to jail on September 17, 2018 in connection with a murder case of 1999, said SHO Gosainganj DK Kushwaha.
A jail warden found Aman hanging from the grille of the barrack’s gate with a gamcha tied around his neck.
Kushwaha also said that Aman was suffering from hypertension and he used to pick fights easily. “In view of his aggressive behaviour, the jail staff had changed his barrack,” he said. Sources said that he had been shifted on Wednesday after he had had a brawl with some inmates.
On May 12, a 20-year-old undertrial named Aman Agarwal was found hanging in a prison washroom.
